I think about cave painting a lot – the earliest expressions of man’s awe of the natural world. I want to make paintings in this spirit – to express the magic, beauty, and mystery of being alive in this world. I also really like the metaphor of the handprint on a cave wall, how we can come to know ourselves and understand our place in the world through the process of art making. Also it is about rediscovering our relationship to nature.
