Nice Buenaventura

As in the case of my other printed matter drawings, the receipt drawings are an attempt at the impossible labour of rivalling technology. Carlomar Daoana, poet and colleague, described the process as painstaking, this letter-by-letter build-up that underscores the etymological root of art as “techne” or technique. By expending energy on easily discarded documents—this time, hardware store receipts—the object subjectified becomes an object beloved.
