Painting is my meditation. The open approach to my process makes it a constant experiment of free flowing lines and gestures. They can be short and repetitive, or involve long and expansive movement. I am in a trance when I paint. It can barely last a few minutes, but can also last for hours–my mind focused on the path my body leads it, and vice-versa. This harmony between my mind and body is like a smooth waltz that rises and falls with a rhythm attuned to my environment. And the strength of each painting is in the many layers and pathways this dance takes me. They grow like a pair of antlers. They are a network of intuitive decisions, each responding to the one made before it. I don’t use reference material. I don’t have a template. There is no predetermined sketch. I am the beginning and the end.
